HELLO. I'M RICHARD AGER. WELCOME TO NH OUTLOOK. LAST WEEK, THE U.S. SUPREME COURT DECLARED THAT CORPORATIONS AND UNIONS HAVE ESSENTIALLY THE SAME RIGHTS AS PRIVATE CITIZENS WHEN IT COMES TO MAKING POLITICAL SPEECH - INCLUDING POLITICAL ADVERTISING - THE MOST EXPENSIVE ELEMENT OF MODERN ELECTIONS. SUPPORTERS OF CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM ARGUE THIS RULING WILL OPEN THE WAY FOR MORE MONEY THAN EVER BEFORE TO FLOOD OUR ELECTIONS, WITH LESS ACCOUNTABILITY. ONE OF THOSE SUPPORTERS MARKED A SPECIAL MILESTONE THIS WEEK,.
AND JOINING US IN THE POLITICAL LIBRARY AT THE STATE LIBRARY IN CONCORD, WE HAVE:
JOHN RAUH, FOUNDER OF AMERICANS FOR CAMPAIGN REFORM;
BUZZ SCHERR - PROFESSOR OF LAW AT FRANKLIN PIERCE LAW CENTER;
AND CHARLIE ARLINGHAUS, PRESIDENT OF THE JOSIAH BARTLETT CENTER FOR PUBLIC POLICY.
WELCOME ALL.
